Not dangerous at all unless you start eating it, or inject the sap into your blood stream.
After all they have them in most public parks and gardens in the land these days. Are you sure it is a ricinus as they will not stand frost so will be deaded now if you live in the UK?

They are poisonous, 1212, but so are a lot of plants, shrubs, trees in our gardens. I believe the poison Ricin can be made, after a lot of process, from the bean of the tree but it's not really outstanding otherwise. Our Laburnum tree is poisonous from the tip of it's roots to the seeds and leaves.:snork:

They grow wild here too 12/12 as they re-seed but ours die back each year. Like Poinsettias and other such 'poisonous' plants, just wash your hands if you get sap on them whilst cutting them back.

Yeah, I'm fairly casual about such things but maybe a long-sleeved shirt, gloves & long trousers would be advisable for the job, and keep the sap out of your eyes.

All done.... Safe and sound. Long sleaves, pants and gloves are horrible to garden in when its 18°C outside lol.
