i dont know but i found this to help you work it out

more info is needed for a accurate answer, such as the initial temperature of the water and the k/watt power of the kettle, however as an example
    water at 15C raised to 100C = 85C
specific heat capacity of water 4200
weight of 1litre of water 1kg
    kettle element 3kw (3000w)
price if electric 15p per unit

    85C x 2400 x 1/3000w = 119sec 1 minute 59 seconds
    cost 1.4875p

if kettle element is 2.4kw then time is 148.75 sec or 2 min 28 and 3/4 sec
    cost 1.4875p

      or this way

Cost of 1 KWh = 20p (just an example, check your electricity bill if you want to be more precise)

Power of kettle = 2200 W = 2.2 KW (another example, check your kettle's label). This means that if the kettle ran for one full hour it would use 2.2 KWh, so:
      20p*2.2=44p cost for one hour

One hour contains 3600 seconds so:
      44p/3600=0.012p cost per second

Kettle takes 1 minute and 30 seconds = 90 seconds to boil (again just an example, take a watch and measure it)
      0.012p*80=1.08p to boil a kettle

Substitute the correct values where needed and you'll get your answer.

when u work it out let me know

I remember reading somewhere that it costs "... on average", 2.9p. to boil a full kettle of water, from cold.

I remember seeing a wartime poster that said how much energy is wasted by boiling more water than you need in a kettle. Can't find it online, think its in the museum at Lyme Regis, so Scrungee's probably got a picture of it:biggrin:

          Did find this though,

Veronica's Victory Vegetables amused me, but I don't get why she appears to be wearing her sunday best plus a cycle helmet while doing the garden.

I wonder how environmental friendly they are, those water taps that automatically produce hot water.

At least you'd only be heating the water you needed Java.

Jiffy, food is a weapon. We might have had it tough during the war, but by the end of it the Germans were making bread out of sawdust & silage.

Can't imagine thinking about how much it costs to boil water, is it that bad in places??
Well, if you boil water, the heat from the flames can help heat your kitchen, the steam from the water can help humidify the room; all said a triple outcome.
