    i am looking for a bit of information regarding Hydrangeas.
    i have 4 in very large pots ,this will be their second year. they flowered well last year but i do not have a clue as to pruning or not pruning. do i leave the old flowers to fall off or what?????:doh::scratch: thank you , music.

    It's probably best to leave them until the frosts have passed Music. The dried flower heads are said to protect the emerging buds from the cold. Once it starts to warm up you can cut them back to a pair of strong buds which will then produce the new growth.

    It's not relevant this year as they are only two years old, but in the future you can thin out some of the older stems to encourage new growth. Menawhile, enjoy the dried flower heads, rimed with frost, especially as they will provide shelter for beneficial insects.
