We use washing up water (no dishwasher), and, bath/shower water.
If I could divert the water from the washing machine, I would.

We haven’t got a bath and I hadn’t thought about the shower water - do you shower with a bucket @Fourmerkland ?

That sounds a bit of a personal question

@Butterfly6 what washing up liquid do you use? I admit that I am not using liquid that could be used for plants.

If it yellow let it mellow.
If its brown flush it down.

We use Ecover @simone_in_wiltshire . We’ve used it for many years now, plants seem quite happy. Our pots only get rain (naturally as it falls) or if watered by me washing-up water. Plants in the ground don’t get anything unless they are newly planted. Then they get puddled in and if they show signs of stress a shot of washing-up water or (if plentiful) some from the water butts. Luckily our soil is quite moisture retentive and I don’t do bare soil so that minimises evaporation.

I don’t use washing-up water on the tomatoes or any other veg (I don’t grow a lot) , they get the carefully rationed waterbutt supply. I’m a mean waterer, the toms only usually get a good soaking once a week, once they are in the GH beds.

We have 4x 330litre butts which are filled off the greenhouse and 4x 100litre collected off the shed. Unfortunately we haven’t anywhere we can easily collect it off the house, without relocating our downpipes. If funds allowed, I would love to get an underground storage tank.

I've never understood why a poem is needed. Surely it's just as easy to remember "flush solids".

Gawd. I made the mistake of turning to this thread as I was sitting down, with a nice bowl of pasta, and beginning to eat my dinner.:frown:

It's all my fault; I bought a water butt and have seen barely a drop of rain since. Apologies to everyone.

Actually @Butterfly6 I do shower with a bucket. It obviously doesn't catch all the water, but every little helps (to use a quote from a well known advert)!!

Keeping the fingers crossed. It looks like the weather pattern will change over the bank holiday weekend to S/SW and with that comes the rain.
