Just imagine how it is for the poor old farm animals. They get given this kind of manufactured rubbish all the time.
Which is why even meat isn't what it was.
I'm sticking with plastic infested fish.

        .... Vegan cheese?

Get yourself a fishing rod and catch some real fresh fish, tastes so much better than stuff out of tins or even from so called 'fresh fish' counters.

My local Tesco reduced to clear their packs of frozen 4x 'fishless fishcakes' to 10p/pkt, so we bought all we could fit in our frezers. They tasted nothing like fish, probably like >99.5% potato and <0.5% shrimp, but were fine if oven cooked (on baking day), then kept refridgerated and fried up with a little garlic and served with fried eggs for breakfast.

Annnd WHY does a Veggie Or vegan actually want it to 'taste like meat or fish' when they reckon to be so dead against it...

Well the thing is that that can of "fish" I bought is not really aimed at veggies its supposed to be "good for the world".
So its aimed at anyone who wants to help the environment.

While I do agree, we are overfishing the seas, I don't think churning out this kind of rubbish is going to change things, as anyone who likes Tuna is not going to buy it twice.
              Well this one aint.;)

Thank you @pete for a right laugh! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I don't get these pretend meat things either - I couldn't go vegetarian, mostly because pigs taste like bacon

Seriously though - I do like meat, and eat it almost daily at one point or another; I will have the occasional veggie day or two (I love a good veggie soup, or a veggie curry!), and fish only very occasionally (not a fan at all). But, there is a distinction - when I want to eat veggies, I eat veggies, not veggies dressed up as something else.

I think the same as your friend, but I can lay bricks/pavings, plaster, do fencing, plumbing, electrics, fit ktchens, repair/replace windows/doors, and I can skin and bone the rabbits I shoot (for Dog).So many people ony appear to have minimal DIY skills (if any) these days.

P.S. And I could also design them and do all the structural calcs, heating/electrical designs, etc., but I'm a bit out of touch with current standards having early retired many years ago.

Well, you know I come across lots of people who say they dont like fish, and I've occasionally bought those so called battered fillets and that kind of processed fish and I can see where the non liking of fish comes from.
I thawed out a so called large fish fillet by Youngs, I then took off the batter, it was six pieces of different fish squashed together and had the slimey batter put round it to hold it all together.
The amount of fish was really small.

Having said that I once went to a cafe, not a fish and chip shop and ordered fish and chips, it was on the menu, up came this plate of battered "fish" and some soggy chips.
I cut into the fish and it was grey in colour, and was pretty rank, I then came across what looked like the backbone of a sardine.
Bloody disgusting, but they called it fish, so I can see why a lot of people say they are not keen on fish.
Most of the processed stuff is only fit for fertiliser.

But get some nice fresh stuff and cook it yourself and its a different proposition.

There is a species of non-green eaters aka Finnish middle aged men. They have a great philosophy:

"I have this deal with rabbits. I don't eat their food and they don't ride my bicycle."

Check out the fish content of some of the coated/battered stuff sold in supermarkets at the actual fish content might only be around 33%.

N.B. Avoid fish and chips shops that advertise as selling 'glutton free' f&c as that will obviously be small portions! Glutton Free !!!! - Woodhouse Fish And Chips, Mansfield Traveller Reviews - TripAdvisor

Bought f&c in Berwick upon Tweed a few weeks ago and they were serving 2 pieces of cod with every f&c

We have an excellent fishmonger locally @Scrungee, who we use rather than buying the processed stuff, and some fish from them I do like (their scampi is incredibly good); Mrs C loces all of it, and would eat fish every day, but it just isn't my thing (even buying the good stuff)
