Hi all. These are popping up just now in my flower beds. Are they weeds? I planted some Corsican mint in this area earlier in the year to fill in some gaps, then a Christmas rose that I just could not kill kept growing back and shading the mint. I think the mint died...it's not the mint is it?! PXL_20221221_125308209.jpg PXL_20221221_125315679.jpg

Doesn't look like Corsican mint (peppermint/spearmint smell) as that usually has tiny leaves and hugs the surface. Try rubbing the leaves and have a smell.

It certainly looks like a mint of some description.

Corsican mint is the smallest of all the mints and is very good to grow between the paving on patios. It has tiny leaves and the roots are also very small so it doesn't harm the mortar if growing on it. It grows so low that it is not a trip hazard, survives being walked on as it forms a very flat mat and has tiny purple flowers. We grow it on our patio.

It could be corsican mint, we need something in the photo to give the scale, as others have said it has tiny leaves.

Here is a pic of my coffee mug next to them. I gave them a rub but they did not smell minty or of anything really. I guess we'll see how they get on if I let them live during my winter clean up next week.

I could easily be wrong, but to me they look like some type of Willow Herb.

It looks very similar to a weed that grows on my allotment, I didn't mention it earlier as I have no idea what it is.

It does appear to be mint but as I've never seen, or hears of, Corsican Mint I don't know.

I've googled willow herb, I recognise it from walkways and waste ground kind of places. I've certainly never grown it and haven't seen it around my area but the birds do like a rub around in my beds when it's dry and clean so could be the culprits. I'm afraid they will have to go at the same time as I prune my apples, cherries and fig trees on Wednesday. Thanks all.
