    well it could be grape, we had grape vines on the other side of the garden and pulled them all out, but maybe deposited by a bird as we are in vine country! Silly me I should have recognized it - will go out later and have a good look again

    Just a thought. I have a LIquidamber tree in the garden and whilst lopping a few of the lower branches, I noted that the stems/leaves are similar to the picture although mine are turning colour at the moment to their autumn hues.

    It is true, barnaby, the Liquidambar leave do look similar .. but it is not a vine. Famtastic tree, they are popular here for shade .... lucky you.

    No one said it was a vine Vicky, but I must admit I think Liquidamber is not likely, or Ziggy's hop, but at least we are getting a few alternatives.
