I have had mildew on a few plants i put it down to being careless with the hose pipe, this year i made a point of watering the ground instead of the plant and the problem disappeared.

    My seeds arrived today.

Just a couple of technical notes:-

Aquilegias suffer from Downy Mildew and not Powdery Mildew. They are two totally different diseases. :noidea: :)

Although Downy Mildew is symptomatic of being brought on by damp conditions on the leaves it can usually be avoided by watering in the mornings if you're unable to water just the ground. The susceptibility is usually during cooler times of the year, so spring is the time to work more carefully at it. The reason for watering in the morning is that the leaves will dry out quicker than if watered in the evening - where they may stay damp overnight.

Aquilegia Downy Mildew became very virulent during the spring of 2013 and thought to be aggravated by it being the coldest spring for 50 years. This meant that the overnight dampness didn't evaporate quickly in the mornings, just in the months when Aquilegias fully produce their new leaves.

There are a lot of homoeopathic creams, made from plants, that work well and are easily obtained. The three most popular ones are Calendula, Hypercal (mix of Calendula and Hypericum) and Arnica.

I see you are using Premier seed Martin :blue thumb: My favourite Ebay supplier .
Just a note , Calendula are referred to as Marigolds . Tagetes are also referred to as Marigolds , even though they are two different plant types . Just another way to confuse us gardeners :snorky:
