Very early in the year for it, but I have my first flower.

Generous Gardener. It's planted on a south facing wall, so I think the unusually sunny and dry spring weather must have done it, as it's never been this early before.

Think you win the prize for the first 2025 bloom @Jess91.

I've just seen today that a couple of my roses have buds on them, which does seem early to me,

I have buds on Gentle Hermione, Harlow Carr and Lady of Shallot as well, but none as advanced as GG. Hoping it's a sign of a good year for flowers :fingers crossed:

Phyllis Bide has several buds, this is only her second Spring with us so don't know if that's unusual.

Even the cutting I took from my Clarence House and planted just last year in a shadier part of the garden has some buds. Woohoo.

And while my indigoletta has one or two buds just starting, I see the black spot has started. I do find this rose suffers more than my others with this.

Followed Alan Tichmarsh instructions and planted 5 cuttings from my favourite rose last pruning season. One out of 5 ain’t bad. Showing off I planted it in the front bed next to the pavement and it is now growing very happily there. Plus it might keep dogs of the bed that are on these stupid long extending leads.

@waterbut I tried the same with my Falstaff but none of them have taken sadly. I thought they had as they started shooting, but then withered and died off. Glad you've had a success

As it’s now May, Maigold is doing her stuff. Covered in greenfly but still thriving.

This one had a label saying Baroness Rothschild but it's too dark a pink. It was a present from a friend.

My other roses in Norfolk aren't out yet.
Back to France on Tuesday, I have more roses there.
