Inset stoves

    I used roofing slates as dpc, both horizontally and vertically. My hearth projected into timber suspended floor construction, so I used a pcc slab set on sleeper walls underneath, with parallel honeycombe walls supporting the floor joists abutting it, belt and braces.

    I might pop over to a local stone retailer see if they have anything suitable for a hearth. Can't bring myself to buy a purpose made granite or even slate hearth. With a concrete floor it should be a simple solution but just awkward logistically at the moment

    @Loofah If you have one locally drop into the local architectural reclamation place and see what they've got. A colleague of mine got a large slab of slate to go under there stove at a very reasonable price.
