    This poor tree has been cut back yearly as in a hedge, but I was stood looking at it today and I am wondering if it is a walnut.??? Any thoughts would be great.. I am not sure what happened to complete pic of hedge so hope leaves are enough.. TIA

      It looks like a young walnut (edited: young growth) to me....

      Let me go outside and take some comparison photos of our young walnut tree!

        Yep walnut, crush a leaf, it has a slightly fruity scent.

          Oh yippee!! It is a hedge that the Parish cuts I will mark it to be left to grow from now on. I think it is quite old as the hedge has been cut forever. I have only just taken this area on so am very pleased. The rest I know is hawthorn ash and some self seeders. I will promote this one for growth though as we are suffering really badly with Ash Die back here and the majority of our trees are Ash! So sad even our woodland dating back to Roman and beyond times. :cry3:

              Yes thanks @Sian in Belgium snd @pete it most certainly is a walnut crushed a leaf this morning. It has been growing in the hedge for a lot of years but we will let it grow away now. :SUNsmile:
