All of the Scotch know the difference between Bing Crosby and Walt Disney.

    Bing sings, Walt Disney...

Don't shoot me, Lori:nonofinger::hate-shocked::heehee:, but Scotch is a Whiskey and a Scots are those that like Kilts and Bagpipes:loll:

I dated a Scottish girl years ago. She said bagpipes only sound good when your at least five miles away.

We fell out a bit over that, because I like bagpipes.

I kind of wondered about that. There is a fellow over here who refers to himself as Scotch and he is from Scotland. Guess he was not brought up correctly!

Sounds like he wishes he was from Scotland but in reality comes from a far less interesting place?

You can call yourself Scottish, a Scot, Scotsman (oh god come to think of it I suppose Scotswoman too with equality required!) or a lot of other much ruder names. Scotch is a term used for Whisky distilled in Scotland and yes @Sheal you are correct, no e, not that I know that much about the drink...says she having a wee dram atm:).

I always include the "e" in Whiskey in case the Barman behind the bar is Irish....as was the case when I was out on a Saturday night in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis where I got introduced to the Boilermaker, Whiskey with a Beer chaser and a severe hang over!!:snorky:

:)Just for your information @ARMANDII I am Scottish but I neither wear nor like Kilts, loath Rabbie Burns, Tartan and not fussed on Shortbread, only like bagpipes played outside and don't have red hair. To quote the doctor in the Blood Doner c/o Tony Hancock "we're not all Rob Roys!:). Do you wear stiff white collars, wear a bowler hat and carry a folded copy of the Financial Times under you arm? That's pretty much what many Scots who have never been to London perceive what The English are like who live south of Birmingham.

While I've got the attention of you Scots......:)

I've been checking out recipes for Bannocks and the original recipes state I should use bacon fat to make them. Are we talking of a kind of dripping? If so I can't produce that amount and trying to buy it here will probably be impossible. Any ideas please?

Oh my, Silu, I went into the rif raf near enough straight after school and ended up as an "erk" dressed in greasy overalls, oil soaked shoes, and long hair, so bowlers, stiff collars, and the Financial Times are something that were driven out of my genes:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee: Okay, when I was a Manager I had to wear a suit and tie but never felt comfortable in them. Besides, I love the Bagpipes, the Kilt, the Dirk, and the Sporran so I used the Bagpipes and Kilt as a signpost for Lori!!:snork: The sound of the swirl of Bagpipes has always been, for me, the sounds of Battle and also lonesome Hills.:love30:
