    Just a few more
    [IMG]
Sidalcea - fully hardy and one of the more showy plants. There some spikes of Francoa in front.

Helenium - 'Moorheim Beauty' - again very hardy.

Blue Erigeron, with red Lychnis coronaria behind.

Hardy Geranium 'Patricia'. This just flowers for months.

Filipendula rubra 'Venusta' in pink, next to a very pale pink Phlox with blue Polemonium in the foreground.

Lychnis chalcedonica in both a strident red and a paler pink.

Campanula lactiflora 'Pritchards Variety', which seems to be one of the longer flowering Campanulas, with Lychnis coronaria infront.

    Campanula trachelium

Brugmansia in flower. The scent in the evening is heavenly.

I love your garden, Peter, your combinations especially.

The lychnis cornonaria looks good with the erigerons - both faves of mine !
The Sidalcea too, bought a short one called Little Princess recently.
And .... you've made me want a Geranium 'Patricia' and will endeavour to find one now (what aspect is that one in please ?) and ..... the Filipendula is gorgeous aswell :WINK1:

Is yours a large garden, how long do you spend on it a day ?

Louise - many thanks for your comment.

I really do like the Geranium 'Patricia' a lot. I have three in total ranging from 1/4 sun to 3/4 sun and they all do well. The one in the picture gets sun for about 3/4 of the day. But being woodland plants, they are probably happy in part sunshine as well. The one in the picture has the best shape because I put 4 two foot canes round it and tied a bit of string round. The string stops the plant flopping totally outwards and revealing a bare patch in the centre. But the string is low and the plant just flows over it to give a smooth cushion. I haven't got round to doing it for the others yet.

'Ann Folkard' is another super one. And I also have 'Rozanne' (also known as 'Busy Bee'): whilst its rated by most people to be as good as 'Patricia' it never does quite as well for me.

The garden is pretty small, so the borders don't need much work. But I also like to grow unusual tender plants in pots as well. And the action of growing from seed, and constantly shifting the pots about in an effort to make more space, along with watering and feeding take up most of the time that I spend in the garden.

In the border, my interest has always been in trying to get plants that flower for a long time. That way you have lots of colout withut doing anything. :D

Such a beautiful garden you have, well worth the effort you must have put in to get such a lovely display of flowers.
          I am in awe.

                Peter,
This was the thread I was looking for these days! :D
Your garden is so profoundly aesthetical, rich and inspiring, it literally overwhelms me! Thanks for the 'principles' you have shared. :sunny:
All I can say is: you have mastered plant combinations in the herbaceous annuals range and this is something I have to learn. I believe it takes a lot of hard work and keen observation as to which plants do well in your conditions and which ones 'peak' simultaneously, which last longer, do they match, etc.

I can read about gardens and look at pictures as much as I will, but before I have known a 4-digit list of plants 'in person' :WINK1:, I can hardly dream to get any nearer to that splendour of yours!

                I don't feel discouraged thgouh... :D

Grand! Can't wait to see the follow-up!
