    I'm back!

Even after having the computer cleared, and back home, there were problems (mostly due to my ignorance), but am THRILLED to be back online, and hopefully problem free (touch something wooden quick!).

The guy at work has installed the most up to date versions of everything for me - very kind, so i now have 'nero' to burn cds, and paintshop 9 instead of 8, and other things I'm not so sure of, but they sounded wonderful when he told me. I am so indebted, and the bottles of whiskey and wine sound feeble as thankyous!

It actually feels really good to have 'culled' all my photos - weeding through them all (and there were tons - I'll take 10 for every 1 worth keeping), and now we are more aware how viruses are spread, I sincerely hope we'll be a lot healthier from now on!

Thankyou again for all your help and support on here - I really would have been lost without you!

    Cheers for now!

I use MozyHome backup system your files are backed up everyday free for the fist 2.2 gb it was recommended on the bbc click programme,it's unobtrusive runs in the background just tells you your quota every day when the automatic backup is finished, you can go pro when your free total is reached,I haven't got there yet.

walnut, never heard of it but I'm interested. Have you ever tried to restore your files yet?
Does it choose or do you choose which files to back up, 2.2gb is not that much.

I don't wish to be alarmist Walnut...but what happens if the site goes down?

Also as JWK said..2gb is nothing, not if you are saving pictures, installed programs and music files. I already have 23gb on this external HD and when I have finished scanning my latest project it will be an awful lot higher.

And as part of JWK's question was...can you just bring back certain files or folders...you can with an external HD as it has its own drive number. You can actually save stuff to it to leave room on your puters HD if you so wish, although I am just using it as a full back-up at present.

JWK not tried restoring any files yet it backs up all your files I use the computer quite a bit got lots of pictures on it but still not reached the free quota, Tweaky you must have some stuff on yours to have 23gb on your external drive yes I can see the advantage of your external hard drive but for anyone who is a moderate user I think the free version is ok,don't know if you can restore selective files and as with any system is it 100% foolproof what happens if your external hard drive goes down you could back up your backup.:D

Well, in a word no. But on the other hand nothing is Walnut. However, there is a way to extract data from an HD that has packed up. So I suppose its as good as anything.:thumb:

    It's in the post :p!!!

Walnut - Thanks for that link - I like the sound of that free backup service - must be worth a go - even if it only holds some stuff, that's safer than having nothing atall.:thumb:
