I've had to clear a bit of space in the veg patch which included removing some kale plants; I've left 3 in place but chopped off the tatty bug infested top because I noticed a small amount of regrowth lower down the stem Does anybody know if this will grow productively into winter or should I just bin the remainder?

Kale's tough stuff Loofah and I think that will be back for you. I wouldn't be in any hurry to bin it. The new growth is the best.

Kale should keep growing till the late spring, so there is a good chance you will get something eventually Loofah.
