We are not long back after a busy day and I am quite shattered. We went to the monthly market in the nearby town this morning, wandered around, had a snack there and I bought a pack of 7 pairs of socks for my second grandson for only €5! He is very choosy as to what he wears but I think that he'll like these socks. Back "home" for a light lunch, let the Minkies have a run in the garden and waited for LofL's call, which came in on time. They were in line waiting to get on to the ferry. I said that you Rosa sent best wishes from all at GC and I am to say thanks and to wish you the same. At the moment they are well on their way across the Bay of Biscay, hope neither of them get seasick!

We went out this afternoon for a drive around the countryside, a walk along the beach at Armacao de Pera, then supper in Silves at Chicken Lady's. Her meal is as good as it ever was -- mmmhhh! Oh, and we paid the same as over 2 years ago.

We are having a glass (or 2-3!)of red wine, Hubby is reading the newspaper, and as you see, I am typing a lot of nonsense to you.

We plan on going to the beach for a few hours tomorrow. Hubby likes swimming, I only go in now and then as I am not a good swimmer - too busy keeping a lookout for sharks!

Yes, rosa, there is a big difference in the garden here, it is almost like a jungle now! I just hope that Hubby and I manage to keep it looking so nice and tidy for when LofL gets back.

Strongylodon, what a shame that your cat will have to go into the cattery while you are away. Has he/she been there before? Have you no nice neighbour that you can rely on like we have? Pity I can't help you out.

All for now, I might have a bit of a look what was going on in GC today, but then we are all off to bed. No doubt Cal and Candi will sleep in our bed again. Boo is rather put out with them today, kept hissing and growling at them, so he is outside cooling himself off at the moment.

Night-night everyone, talk to you tomorrow.

We went to the beach for a couple of hours today. We and everyone else left in a hurry as mist came up suddenly, and don't know if it was a very light rain or the mist. Anyway, it was a bit spooky seeing it come up. Made us think of old seamans tales of such and how they got lost. We found the car without difficulty, did a bit of shopping and back home to the Minkies. They are out in the garden or next door in the orange grove, but they come back in every now and then to check up on us.

After a cool morning the day turned out really nice, it was about 23C and the sun bombed down out of a clear blue sky. We went to the beach for 2 hours, there was a fairly stiff wind coming from inland - and there were thousands of dragonflies, never seen anything like it before! They were all flying up from the sea against the wind, many of them mating. I don't know what kind of dragonfly they were, were about 5 cm long, a fat fore-body tapering down suddenly to a thin rear half. Sort of reddish-brown. They didn't hover much as dragonflies usually do, but darted around at quite a speed.

It seems like the wrong time of the year for them to be mating. I would be interested if anyone has heard of these ones before and has any infomation.
