    Hi,

Dont seem to be having much luck with my palms, they are a couple of years old at the most, they are both in containers but they grow slow and yellow. How can I improve them please? Would they be better planted?

    Location Bolton, East facing garden

Well, I grew a couple on for years, on finally planting out they died of cold in two winters, I'd not class them as hardy personally.
Pot growing is ok for a few years, and even then I'd not say they are easy.

Heard of strange ways of making them" flush", ie new set of fronds, like watering with warm water etc.
I think the yellowing is probably down to feeding, possibly trace elements, like maybe magnesium.
So a balanced feed containing trace element would perhaps help regarding yellow fronds,

Cycas are VERY slow. I grew one from seed (had lots of the big seeds but very poor germination) for a few years. It died in a very cold winter even though in a greenhouse (alright, unheated). I'd agree with pete regarding trace elements. Any new frond is a cause for celebration!
