You are more than welcome @silu, I am happy to help. :)

You don't need to pay for additional security - drop me a PM when you get your laptop, and I will help you get the right programs. Just buy the laptop, and nothing else - - the add-ons that get sold along with the laptops are usually way overpriced, and can often be found for free once you get home.

EDIT - just read Jack's post, he is spot on with the advice about AVG and Trusteer - both are free. Avast is another decent free one too.

Norton is generally good, but can be very resource hungry and slow you down, and McAfee is even worse - utter bloatware. I would avoid both. If you do want the additional peace of mind from a paid one, get ESET Smart Security 9; it is about £20 a year on subscription, but includes banking protection and is not heavy on system resources. I have used ESET on all my machines for years and never had a problem.

Great @fat controller, I am intending to get the purchases by the end of this week. We Scots aren't mean just canny! I certainly don't like being charged over the odds and if you can get something for free well that's even better:). It seems the usual practise for companies to attract buyers with a keenly priced product and then make their "jam" with the add ons.
I'll PM you when my new "toys" arrive, you're a :star:
