You know what makes me moan. Thieves. Thieves make me moan a lot. We do not have front gardens here, but have about 6 feet wide area outside the front window which is concrete, then the boundary wall. I fill mine with plants and flowers to make it look nice. I also do the neighbours to the left and the right of my house, they're not into gardening by any means but are happy for me to put stuff out there and maintain it. They are lovely folks, truly lovely. Of course, I use my own money (willingly and happily) it's like having an extra 18 feet of container gardening space and I love how bright it looks. First we have the Roma stealing all the ceramic pots, that has cost me a fortune, only to see my pots that I have furnished with love and time on sale at the boot fair! But today is truly the icing on the cake. I had two little baskets about 12 inches long that I painted white and filled one with miniature Tulips and the other with Dianthus. Placed them on my neighbours windowsill. The tulips hadn't bloomed yet, but had poked their little heads through and the Dianthus were different shades of pink and spilling out of the basket. Tonight - they are gone. Totally gone, lol. I am trying to tell myself that somebody has taken them for Mothers Day and that a lady who wouldn't have got anything will now have a gift. I know it's not true, but that thought is keeping me calm. However, that is nothing compared to a lady up the road who was moving house. She put her tumble dryer and laundry basket out the front for the next run by her husband and son. They were nicked. Including her dirty laundry. I live a dozen houses away but could hear her swearing from my sitting room, lol.

Where I used to live, flowers which I had placed on a grave were regularly stolen, if people take these they would take anything!! Like you Lynda I have a particular dislike of thieves.

Just a teeny moan from me ...
.. this morning it was foggy and Ozzy got his walk early. There is a wonderful field, just a few steps away, which I've favoured lately (wasn't so great when it was muddy) because now the soil is firmer under foot.

Met a man with 3 small dogs and we chatted for a moment (well, until his 3 stopped yapping at the size of Ozzy :heehee: ). He went off the route I was going to go so I thought, ok, fine, I'll carry on ahead. This meant crossing the field, not skirting it. Tad slippy under foot, I thought. Ozzy was off like the clappers and then I smelt it ... *sniff sniff* ... the whole field had been spread with muck  Fair play, farmer has to do his jobs and my boots will scrape off easily enough. Will just have to go a different route for the next few days. No hardship.

Few feet further up, there is a mound of the stuff and right in the thick of it, rolling and wiggling and rolling ... Ozzy!   He was sooo proud of himself :doggieshmooze: but he stank! :eeew:

Why oh why do they have to *do* that!? (Dogs, not the farmers). :rolleyespink:

Extract from the DEFRA code of conduct:-

If possible, to reduce odour and ammonia loss:

                  • use a band spreader or injector to apply slurry.
                  • otherwise, use broadcast equipment with a low trajectory and large droplets. Broadcast slurry (by splash plate) should be incorporated immediately, and at the latest within 6 hours.
                  • if solid manure, it should be incorporated as soon as possible and at the latest within 24 hours.
Livestock manures should not be applied when:

                  • the soil is waterlogged; or
                  • the soil is frozen hard; or the field is snow covered; or
                  • heavy rain is forecast within the next 48 hours.
The Code also advises that the best conditions for spreading are where air mixes to a great height above the ground, which are typically sunny, windy days, followed by cloudy, windy nights. These conditions cause odours to be diluted quickly.

Farmers are also advised to avoid spreading at weekends, bank holidays, in the evening or in fields close to and upwind of houses, unless it is solid manure that has been well composted, or slurry that is to be band spread, injected or has been treated to reduce odour.

Thank you for that @shiney :dbgrtmb:
On the return trip, the tractors were out so I'm guessing it was all being incorporated.

Although my mini moan was about Ozzy rolling in it as opposed the presence of it :heehee:

@"M" Yep, my labrador & Cocker Spaniel used to just love foxes 'mess' , my little white Bichon used to just stand watching them until one day he decided that this looked too much fun to just be a spectator and before I could grab him he joined them in the foxes cr*p!! And you're complaining about just ONE dog!!!

Well he hasn't done it *before*! I thought I'd brought him up to be far better behaved.
Mind you, I suppose he hasn't been around this muck before and the temptation proved just too much. :roflol:

In our Cul-de-sac there are 5 of us,most are elderly and don't get out much.I planted umpteen Daffs to brighten the place up and for a short while they look lovely that's until some pillock decides to kick their heads off and leave them strewn across the road:mute: I'd sooner they steal them than do that:mad: Still they can keep doing it because I'm going to keep planting them:paladin:

Annnnd another thing while we're at it:old:...COFFEE....today in our village I saw 4 people walking around drinking 'that' coffee...they all live within spitting distance so why don't they go home and put the kettle on:mad:...I'm seeing it more and more these days ,what's that all about:scratch:
