As with the demise of the high street shops people are buying more on line (i know ), this week had 23 knocks on the door "where's xxx" i now have printed off a map of the local area and put all the address of people that live here to give to the drivers, some in polish/czech

happy shoping, it can be a pain in the back side when your sat on the loo and there's a knock on the door and they kept knocking till they get someone to answer  to give you a parcel which is not for you but someone else down the road but sat-nav says here

    Happy shopping

I don't mine helping drivers that are lost, which is why i now have a box outside with the words "if your loss please take map, free"

I once had some one leave a parcel on door step, i then took it to the owner so they have there parcel, next thing i know the parcel went missing and i got the blame:mad: so i don't take parcel any more for any one but show the drivers where to go  ie with the free map now :)

Amazon parcels go to our village post office, 3 minutes walk away (so I keep telling neighbours about this when there Amazon courier knocks on our door), Amazon lockers in nearest towns, Pass my parcel pickup in next village's shop for some items that can't be collected from post office.

Ebay parcels get delivered to Argos in whichever local town I'll be passing through after delivery date, or I'll opt for sellers that use DPD or (the dreaded) Hermes, because DPD give an accurate 1 hour slot/can be tracked on a map/alert me to parcels on their app before the seller does. And if out, our local Hermes delivery driver will find us out and about around the village and hand over the parcel.

That leaves Royal Mail, and our local postie will let us know if he has something too big to post through the door when he sees us out and about, and knows where (and where not) to leave stuff. I can't say that participating in RM delivery monitoring survey works helps prevent certain new staff thinking they can get away with all sorts of nonsense, but they don't last very long.

I have a delivery nearly daily. Most for the neighbour but a lot for my eldest son. My gripe is .... if he can afford so much garbage from Amazon he could give me more lodge!!!
As for the neighbour... they just expect me to be here!
I often get a text/ call saying - I’m expecting a delivery tomorrow , it’s really important , you’ll be in won’t you! ( not a question mark ) I’m just expected to be here :wallbanging:

We buy, almost, nothing through ebay/Amazon or other suppliers. What little we do buy is generally small enough for the Royal Mail to cope with. Our postie knows where to leave things if we're not in.

What few larger items we may order are ordered with instructions of where to leave it if we're not in. There's a woman in the village that does a delivery round (I think she's one of the people that has things delivered to her for her to pass on) and usually knows which days and times I run things at the village hall if I'm not home. So she drops them into me there.

I am fit to be tied. BANKS!!
I organised or so I thought:wallbanging: an on line bank transfer to new financial advisers (well known firm in UK, not Tooks Abumba Chanza in outer Nigeria!) on Friday. I went through all the security measures including putting my debit card in a card reader thingy which then gives you an authorisation code, so all hunky dory...no.
My beloved bank in their wisdom put a stop on the transfer. They then say? they tried contacting me by phone on Saturday. I was in and out on Saturday but have an answerphone so why not leave a message to contact them? or some indication of a problem. They duly send me an email, it goes straight into junk mail why god knows and I don't regularly look through the junk inbox
Blissfully unaware of what has happened I just fortunately logged into my on line banking account yesterday late afternoon as needed to check something completely unrelated. Blocked:scratch:. Contact bank who then say I need to speak with the fraud team:yikes:. Wait what seemed like ages to be put through and have now convinced myself all our money has been filched.
Get some arrogant ghit who speaks so quickly it's like rapid gunshot fire and I have to tell him to slow down with the questions. 1 question involved which county I pay rates to. His pronunciation of the county I live in (Fife) was "interesting" and was more appropriate as a name for a french Poodle as he pronounced it Fifi for god's sake.I do belong to a SCOTTISH bank, you'd have thought their employees might just know a minute amount about Scotland. If I hadn't guessed what he was meaning I would have got the security question wrong:mute::mute::mute:.
No sorry for the inconvenience was forthcoming. As it wasn't, I asked the ghit to email me details of how I make an official complaint. This demand (not request I was well past requesting by this stage:wallbanging:) was made about 5.15pm yesterday. I'm still waiting for the email!! As it had not appeared by about 10.30pm I phoned the 24 hour banking lot and made the complaint that way.
I 100% appreciate that there is a huge amount of fraud carried out through banks and people getting their accounts hacked. However, this episode shows me that the procedures my bank has in place to prevent fraud don't work or they don't think they do and have added some computer programme to pick up possible fraud or not in my case. What's the point of the card reader system? Why not keep trying to contact me yesterday when I hadn't responded to an email sent on Saturday? What would have happened if the money I was sending had had to reach a deadline date? It was purely chance that I looked at my account on line. I have absolutely no idea why the payment was stopped but this is the last straw with my current bank and I am moving my accounts when it is convenient to do so. We have no local bank any more and my nearest branch is miles away. Anybody use First Direct? Nowadays there seems little point in having a bank with branches . Maybe still ok if you live in a big town/city, I don't.

No, we used to be with the Nitwest untill they closed the last bank in town so we heard that the local 17 miles away Building society will do account like a bank (but no chq's)so we moved and haven't looked back, they do online as well if you want to (we don't) so when we go shopping we now do all the banking then

Look at some of your Building Society and see what they can do

I don't think it is a coincidence that the word 'bankers' sounds very like something that is quite aptly descriptive of them. I am sick to the back teeth of banks to be honest - they never do anything for the benefit of their customers, and only ever work for their own profit/benefit. I have just had an email from my credit card to forewarn of a change to their T's & C's - - "we are making changes to the way we calculate your minimum payment" it says.. and then finishes off chirpily "this is to help our customers pay their balances off earlier"..... yeah, of course we will, you have just virtually doubled the minimum payment overnight. Shower of shhhhhhh.....

@silu There are some banks that allow you to do paying in or to withdraw cash from a post office - if you have a post office near you.

I put a little money in the post office bank to leave in as "roof" funds. Had a letter yesterday to let me know if I don't use the account by a specified date in August it will be deactivated.
