Just a very late followup to post #351 and my busted KitchenAid mixer - called the number and eventually got through to someone happy to tell me that for a meagre price of £180 my mixer could have a 'health check up'! For £220 it would include a further 2 year warranty too...

Er, no thanks! Watched a couple of youtube instructionals on replacing the worm gear (was pretty sure it was that and have stripped the mixer to confirm. New part is about £35 of ebay but I reckon someone could make a killing in servicing Kitchenaid appliances in the UK!

It's a racket isn't it Loof ..about 5 years ago a particular 'valve' went on our central heating boiler...was going to cost at least £300 to fix but luckily our neighbour who owns a plumbling and heating business had a look ,told us the problem..My husband fixed it ,got the neighbour to check it...the part was 35p..Yesssss 35p...plus a good night out.

I'm just glad that it's not too taxing to fix! It's a mucky job and they've moved from Philips and hexi screws to square ones just to make it harder; unless you happen to have a small flathead screwdriver that you can jam in enough to work...

Boilers are always a bugger now, give me an old floor mounted one any day

@Loofah I prefer the Robertson type screw but most of our small appliances over here still have the phillips.

I have a moan about you guys over there. Watcherdoing-to-us? Jihadi Jack has dual citizenship and you guys are pulling his British one which leaves him with a Canadian citizenship. He may have been made with some Canadian parts but he was made over there and never set foot over here before!
We don't want him. Nope. Not ever. Really..:paladin:

So it's up to your government to take away his Canadian Citizenship as well.

She had dual British/ Bangladeshi citizenship.
                      She's now Bangladesh's problem.

I still haven't got around to changing the router . It has been working fine and I have been too busy to try and trace where the wires are plugged in :noidea:. We have four, four gang, extension sockets on the floor behind the computer desk. This would require me to pull out the desk (on wheels) but to pull it out completely in order to make it easier would need me to disconnect lots of things! To pull it out just enough to get to the sockets would then need me to get on hands and knees to reach them and that's something I can't physically do. So, if I want it done without physical harm to me I need to either disconnect everything :yikes: or wait until a younger person turns up. :noidea: :old:
