Some years ago I posted a picture from the 'Garden Direct' catalogue - where they has incorrectly spelled the work Fungicide.

This is from their 2020 catalogue, received yesterday- classic :

Bought a pork chop yesterday, can anyone tell me how they manage to rear a pig with only an 1/8 in of fat on it?
Its got the skin on the outside, so its not been trimmed off.
What the hell are they doing to animals.

Pigs are on a low fat diet these days, Consumers don't want fat, despite the fact it's often the best bit.
Try a real butcher and/or rare breed pork you may do better.

If you dont like fat you can trim it off, if you do you cant put it on.:dunno:.
Dont eat much meat as I find it pretty awful most of the time these days, but just thought I'd give it go again.
I suppose its best eaten raw?
As that seems to be the only way of it not turning it into rubber these days.

Well I would have thought an outside reared pig would need a layer of fat, these poor things must shivver most of their very short lives.

They don't eat slop's any more, it's all made for them! they don't get time to shiver, they can go into they're hut hopefully with straw inside with another pig and lay down next to other pig for warmth

So what happens if the other pig is cold as well?;)

"Out door reared", just a marketing scam for treating animals badly.

Foot and mouth did away with that, I can remember the "pig man" collecting from the school kitchens.
It's all down to economics. As much pig as possible for as little cost and people don't want to buy fat and then throw it away, because the medics have said fat is bad for you.
