As usual it's getting all blown out of proportion.
    Men are the big problem.

To be honest I d think twice about walking in some of these places women are walking alone late at night.

It's not all bad but it's the driver that gets it when things go wrong
I also work for a big haulage company which was delivering to brewry where every load was time, if you were late it goes again the contract, one day 1 driver got held up so i said to manger that i had enough time to get the load done, he said no, so i wait around for my load which was the one after, the driver came in so we all help turn him around quickly, i wait 1/2 hour then i went in with my load, the forman at brewry was laiying into the driver for being later :nonofinger: so i open by mouth and said it was not name of driver fault it was the transport manger's, he then started laying into me, so i rattle of what he said to the transport manger and said that i was going to swap loads to get it here on time but was told "no" after that i got on well with the forman for standing ground on what was right :)

Absolutely agree, the tone of vilifying men as a gender is not doing any favours for the subject.

Here's a link to ONS study for more background.
        Clip:
According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) year ending March 2019:

        • an estimated 7.5% of women (1.6 million) and 3.8% of men (786,000) experienced domestic abuse in the last year
Yet it is true that bigger and stronger will use force against physically weaker with more devastating effect, and even our modern western culture still has a lot of "boys will be boys" elements.

And even in our society, it is common to see "traditional values" of men being the head of the family and consider themselves of having certain rights with the position, and women to have the place as caring for the children. The imbalance of the roles can lead to situations where the female will stay on as there are no alternatives to bring the children up well.

If the stronger, money earning half of the family has for example drug or mental health issues, the situation can become very difficult to resolve.

The crisis is more clear defined as men-hitting-women for the results. Worse injuries, less escape channels, welfare of the children- that seems to be more pronounced in this pattern. However, it is not fair to generalize or leave the reverse pattern unmentioned.

I'd love to see more positive role models appear to reinforce the modern family dynamics. In my close circles the Dads and Husbands or Partners are wonderfully demonstrating what a new man is like, taking equal share of all sides of family life and never even dreaming of misusing their strength or financial control to abuse others.

And yet, every day I see families where the modern male picks the kids from school and the sister is modestly scarved and walks two paces behind the dad and the brother in football gear. What is that teaching to the brother and to the sister?

Sorry for the rant. I'm trying to get my head around the subject, it's certainly not a black-and-white matter.

No doubt there are cases of women abusing men, but it's surely a small percentage of crimes against women.
Generally a man is strong enough to at least hold the angry lady back..
When i was at primary school it was drummed into us that hitting girls was about the lowest of low things you could do. Any boy hurting a girl would find himself in bother from the other lads at the first opportunity.
There is no excuse for abusing a women end of.

Well, here's a real life example of what does go on.

My brother stayed in the relationship to protect his children - he could have easily walked out of the door - he didn't. He tells me that on several occassions he stepped in to take a beating that was aimed at his kids.

            This went on for years.

He is remarried now - his kids live close by and he has a good relationship with them. His ex wife - we really don't care what happened to the dragon - but one thing is for sure - she's going to be very lonely in her old age.

Terrible to have to live like that.. I guess there's mental illness out there male and female.
I'm sure most of them end up lonely.

Did they save stamp duty or just make a smart move buying the company that owned the building? Depends on how sensationalistic you want to interpret it.

Incidentally that's not in support of Blair, simply an observation. The less I see of any politician the happier I am

£312,000 is peanuts to the likes of the Blairs.
I can't think it was worth avoiding it on a deal of 6million if they thought it would be considered wrong.
I get the feeling these kind of people are so removed from us that it's just the normal kind of thing for them to do.
It's a different world, they don't understand ours and we don't understand theirs.

I presume they have financial advisers running their affairs any way, they just sign the paperwork.

Fueled up with 35L on way to get Covid Booster jab. Took 12 minutes from joining end of small queue to driving off.

Ah, another fab political slogan - level up! Nothing behind it, just like the rest of the waffle that came out in the recent party conferences.
