I do try very hard not to see or hear any adverts, but I did catch sight of that one! Once again, unscrupulous companies trying to convince consumers that they have a previously unidentified, and probably non existent, antisocial trait that needs an expensive product to counter the effects. Yet another con.

@Jiffy, OH’s shower routine is the other way round. He used to get a rash on his neck, which he couldn’t get rid of, until he stopped using regular shampoos. He is now using a super sensitive body wash which is also designed for hair and face as well. Seems to be working well and no further rashes. It’s actually worked out cheaper too, as he seemed to use a rather large quantity of shampoo than was warranted by his relative lack of hair!

I must confess that there are two adverts currently on that I do make an effort to watch! One is for an Italian beer, and features foxes driving a speed boat and playing the harmonica! Thoroughly enjoy that one, but slightly ironic as I don’t like beer, so their advertising budget is wasted on me.

I’m not entirely sure what the other advert is for, and what it is supposed to mean, but involves someone dressed up as a jealous collie, and attacking its owners new partner! Lost on me, but it makes me laugh.

I see the new Virgin airline adverts have scaled back their ‘inclusivity’, their previous ads were enough to make me feel that even Ryanair would make me feel more like a valued customer.

Took my defective glasses to the Post Office today along with the label they sent me via e mail, sorry we cant print that we need a full size QR code they said.

Maybe you could print it yourself on our printer, yeah, that was going to happen I'm sure, first I need to connect the wi fi on my phone to the PO one then work out how I print the label they sent me, Then I'd have to stick it on the parcel an get back in the queue, for some reason the person in front of me took a full 10 minutes to send a package to France, what is wrong with the postal service.:wallbanging:
Came back and e mailed the glasses company and told them to send me a QR code, no, they told me to get it collected by RM, I've just spent 15 minutes putting in my e mail address and my house address about three times on the RM site, then they said they didn't recognise the code number for the company, after another two attempts they finally did.:yay:

What happened to the days when you just wrote out the address and just put the words "freepost" into it.
No wonder the country is going down the pan.

@Ergates I'm still trying to work out whether the partner in the 'collie ad' is male or female. It seems to have a 'tash but that means nothing in the modern world!

@KT53. You are not the only one who is mystified. I think we might have seen two different versions, a shorter one, where I thought the partner was female. However, there is a longer version, with more violence in the house, and the partner knocked onto the floor ( with the real dog pinning it down) where the partner definitely looks more male to me! Perhaps whatever they are advertising has a unisex fragrance, and they are covering all the bases!
Whatever it is, I won’t be buying any! It did amuse us though, as we used to have a couple of Shetland sheepdogs, very similar in appearance to the dog in the advert.

I bought a few items online from our big high street pharmacy and collected the parcel today. On their £10 Tuesday offer, I ordered some slippers, clearly stated on the website, country of origin, United Kingdom. However the box says made in China, as does the label inside the slippers. Now I have to trek back to the store to return them. Not pleased. I have written them an email complaint.

I have one of those garden clocks, it clearly states on the face of the clock, The Westminster Clock Company, England.

When you change the battery it says on the back, Made in China. :dunno:

What's with the recent trend for selling plants in 9cm pots? I want to see any plants I buy mature before I pop my clogs. :frown:

Depends what it is, most of my stuff starts out in pots that size.
Growing from seed means often starting out smaller than that.

I think fairly often you see the same plant in a small pot and a bigger one, my usual beef is why cant a pay a sensible price and get a smaller pot, I hate it when they only sell large pots of something and I usually refuse to buy it at the exorbitant prices they charge.

I'm talking about shrubs @pete. There's a Fuchsia I want to buy but I can only find two suppliers. One is Victoriana with 9cm pots and the other is via email request so I won't bother with that.

They grow fairly fast dont they.
If I wanted a particular plant I'd even consider a cutting from someone that may have one.

                    E mail request?
                    What does that mean?

It usually means that it's a small family run nursery so they don't have a full website. You can't see the plants they supply, and what they may have is by email request. Often it's not worth the hassle, plus I want to see what I'm buying.

9cm pot should be fine for a fuchsia as they are happy with small, confined root systems. I like buying things in little pots as then the hole I have to excavate for planting is less bother.

Among the worst of the unscrupulous companies are the baby milk ones. They're not allowed to advertise formula in this country, so they came up with another product that falls outside the rules. Follow On Milk! No child actually needs this stuff. Parents are also generally unaware that there are strict rules about the contents of baby formula, so that even the cheapest own brand is as good nutritionally as the big names. But because they are good parents and want to feel they are "doing their best" for the child, they feel obliged to buy the big names.

I know the beer one you mean, I think it's the music that makes it. The song is written in gibberish which is supposed to sound like English.

                          45% less than what?

I moved over to buying Tyrrells because they dropped their salt content to .9% when others were still 1%. They also do their 'Naked' crisps with no salt (I prefer to add my own) but they aren't sold anywhere near here.

I did complain to them (what? Me complain! Never!! :heehee:) that got a very polite "tough!" response, but not too long after that they did their lightly salted at .5%. Then they put it up, about a year later, to .8% but have dropped it again to .65%.

What I'm not so keen on is that they seem to sometimes put most of the .65% on one crisp.
