Are you sure it wasn't the wind, @pete?

@cactus_girl Home Bargains has a store locator on its website. Your area is probably too posh for them.

Its been windy but that has stood there for a few years I'm sure, even through gales last summer.
Pretty sure its just total vandalism. it has larger trees around it that shelter it from wind anyway.
You wouldn't believe some of the kids we have around here.
possibly part of the similar bunch that catapult the ducks and wildlife with ball bearings.

Looks almost as if the stems have been stamped on . If it is sheltered, it's rather low for wind damage as well as the breaks looking very "clean".
Unfortunately, every generation has it's share of morons. Maybe time to take up the art of Catapulting @pete ?

That kind of vandalism really annoys me @pete

Near me, not that I've ever been there, two mature beech trees were felled in what was called a sycamore gap copycat. Supposedly these were 150 year old plus trees and the idiots walked a mile to then cut them down with a saw.

@Philippa Sadly there seems to have been an exponential growth in the number of morons in the past decades. I put it down to lack of parental control due to the "Oh we must let the little darlings express themselves" attitude.

Did anyone see the news yesterday morning, Jenrick was in the underground stations challenging those that just crash through the barriers without paying, in full view of the police.
Nobody stops them, just like shoplifting its now considered something not bothering with.

I was surprised to hear the response from both the ITV and BBC news people.
Some called it a stunt, others said it was just having a go at people who cant afford the fair.:dunno:

It was really an eye opener on how these lefties view criminal activity.

If that is allowed, why should anyone pay? the ones that do are paying more to subsidise these criminals, the country has gone mad.

Indeed! Yet be a carer and do paid work 15 mins longer than the rules specific and you will be chased for every penny of the Carers' Allowance, often backdated for yrs. Or be a single mother without a TV licence and you will end up in court.

It really is two-tier justice when you only go for soft targets.

Meanwhile, the rules re heat pumps needing to be a metre from a neighbour's boundary have been dropped. This wouldn't matter too much if the wretched things did not emit noise day and night!

They are a slow-motion disaster. Even if you get one, heavily subsidised courtesy of a gov grant, what happens at the end of its life (which could be as short as 5-8 yrs)? How will you afford a replacement? I think we will end up in 20-30 yrs time with the majority of middle and low income households having no central heating at all. 1950s revisited a century on! :hate-shocked:

I've had to put up with the racket of the Torbay Air show all afternoon. Flipping council waste of money, environmentally unfriendly, expensive, no parking, streets closed.

We get the racket from the local park most weekends through the summer, always some event or other, but its what people want.

We get the racket from Birmingham airport. All year round. Occasionally I say "isn't it quiet". Then I realise it's the airport having a quiet moment. They're all going off on their hols at the moment. All airports should be located away from built up areas and if you want to fly you travel to the airport. While I write this one has just taken off. Not really loud, but it's there. It was heaven when that volcano in Iceland erupted and no planes could fly. The peace was so noticeable. But we are lucky not to have traffic noise where we live. Another has gone off.

The big problem regarding airports is they probably were away from built up areas when they started out.
But they like to build houses around them, plus the airports expand over time.

I've seen pictures of Heathrow just after ww2 and it's unbelievable the amount of development that has taken place.
