Spot on O-V. Same goes for women’s rugby. Even the commentary is better than during the men’s game. One female commentator actually interviewed a mens team captain after the game with the opening question - Tell me how do you feel after loosing an important game.

@waterbut …..” tell me how you feel/ how do you feel….
“ seems to be a opening question from all reporters these days. Wonder where they get their training ? It is so inappropriate sometimes.

I don't get all these endless interviews. If I'm watching sport, it is for the action, not the personalities. Most have very little of interest to say. Even the likes of Federer gave terribly boring press conferences.

The interviews in athletics when the athlete has literally just come off the track should be stopped. Same sort of question 'How does it feel to come 2nd'!! FFS.

Yes, @KT53, and also after a long five hour gruelling match of tennis.

“Stupidity can be defined as doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting different results” - so the saying goes.

In cycling the riders cross the line and are then swamped by microphones shoved in their face and given no time to even breathe. I think this is the way media does it because it has to be instant reaction and there is always the chance that a stupid question will get a annoyed comment that they can then use as a headline.

I must admit that any sport I watch gets turned off as soon as the final whistle has blown, I can't stand punditry that either states the obvious or simply retells what you already know because you watched it.

It would seem that we all have a long way still to go. But with billions to feed…….it would seem to be an impossible task. Unless someone invents the wheel again.:heehee:

My moan is that I am really disappointed in our clematis Jackmanii this year. With some recent high breezes and winds we’ve had, all the flower petals have dropped off already. It should have been flowering for many more weeks yet. It looks very sorry for itself.

@Songbird try dead heading it and giving a light prune and a feed. It may well flower again.

I don't use any pesticides in my garden but have noticed a marked decline in the numbers of butterflies about and the frogs and toads in our pond have been really quiet this year. Usually they make so much noise in spring we have to close all the windows at night.

We leave large areas of brambles and nettles in quiet corners of the plot and we have mixed hedging and native trees around most of our 4 acre plot which includes a paddock. There is always something in flower and plenty of shelter as we're not too tidy and have loads of compost heaps.

We leave large areas of grass uncut till late July/August but this year have had fewer wildflowers in there so I'll be sowing some next year and planting them as plugs to see if that helps and, of course, more ornamentals that get the RHS pollinator label.

I've a lovely, big hydrangea in the front garden. Normally it's a mass of flowers but this year it was covered in buds but not a single one opened. The hydrangea is sheltered on 3 sides so has had very little natural watering. The buds are now all brown and shrivelled. Better luck next year I hope.

You could try giving it a bucket or 3 of water @KT53. I do it with mine.
