Sadly, we will all eventually be forced down that line - the meters are the property of the transmission companies (not your energy supplier) so if they choose to force a meter change, you cannot legally stop them. They are going to have fun if/when they get to our house as the positioning of our meters in the kitchen means that smart meters cannot currently be installed - the gas one in particular would need the kitchen to be ripped out for it to be moved.

Dont you find it has a strange taste once frozen, I used to freeze a bottle or two but it has an odd taste afterwards.
I think the cream and fat in it separates from the water part.

They will be unavoidable, @Fat Controller, but you are entitled to have them set to dumb mode, so they do not relay data, and you send meter readings as normal. I suspect once dynamic pricing really takes off, they will penalise those with dumb meters by charging a higher tariff overall.

I wonder if they stretch to kitchen refits! ;)

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to take a dog on a beach during summer, it seems only winter is allowed unless its a cesspit already.
But the water companies can dump sewage at will and every high tide brings in more rubbish, so much so I'm not sure the beaches are safe for my dog.
So maybe its just as well.

To be honest I only use it in Tea or Coffee. I only freeze the small bottles.

@pete I see quite a few messages on FB about the mess humans leave behind on beaches - truckloads of litter and unmentionables - alongside images of rescue dogs at lifeguard stations and signs banning dogs.

There are huge campsites along the coast here - cabins rather than tents - with all sorts of facilities and some now advertise themselves as dog friendly so that's a good start.

I generally don't buy many clothes and only replace things when they wear out but I recently got a new top that fits well so I thought I'd get it in another colour. I ordered the new one with a different shop and then after a few days had a reply saying they were sold out and did I want it in a larger size or a different colour. I already had the different colour and a bigger size would drown me so I replied asking for a refund. My reply was only an hour or so after they sent their message and I didn't here back from them for two more days where they told me they had sent it in a different colour and if that was a problem then we would have to deal with it later. I guess their hope is that I keep it and move on but it's annoying because I asked for a refund and they sent it anyway. I'm now in the situation of either excepting something I don't want or going to the trouble of chasing them up for the postage before I send it back or going through eBay for the refund. It's probably why I don't buy much.

@Thevictorian Tell them you already have the other colour and had celarly asked for a refund and expect one. If they want the unsolicited item back they need to include funds to cover the postage or you'll accept it as a gift.

Ordered from a Chinese company by any chance? They circumvent import rules by having each item sent directly from the manufacturer. That's the end result.

No not a chinese company, all that i ordered was in the UK and from a UK based company, but for some resson all sent by different delivery companys

I do need something that the only place i can get the item is from China, it cost £4-5 with free delivery, but i will not order it because i'm not sure if there will be any other cost/tax/vat etc once it gets to the uk, i've never bought anything from outside the uk, if i know there won't be any other cost then i may buy but i never done it before so i'm not going to try
Has any one bought something from china to uk and had problems when it get to the uk

@Jiffy, it shouldn't be a problem as it is an inexpensive item, so no customs charges would be due. The issue might be returning it if it is not as described or faulty. You can send it tracked as far as the Chinese border, but after that it would not be, so they could just pretend they had not received it and refuse you a refund. Also the return would likely be at your own expense.

So really it depends on whether you are willing to possibly lose the money.
