Difference is RNLBI is a charity funded by donations from the likes of you.
Note Border Force are not fined either for towing in boats, always makes me smile when tax payer funded bodies are fined as we the taxpayer pay for it in one way or another.Perhaps public flogging of the officials involved might be better.

When walking in North Italy one of the group came down with gout, visit the pharmacy in the next town we passed through and after a chat with the pharmacist got allopurinol and a heavy duty painkiller over the counter.

I read the article from the Indie which you linked to at the top of this page (or p302, if we've "turned over a new leaf" by now!), @Fat Controller . The comments under it are worth a look, if you haven't done so... they reveal, for a start, that the scaremongering report is provided by Henley Private Wealth, which is a business specialising in helping millionaires to relocate (and helping other countries to attract them). Secondly, 16.5 k is only 0.63% of the total population of millionaires in the UK. And thirdly, Henley Private Wealth's projected figures are based only on those millionaires with liquid assets of a million or more, ie assets which are readily movable to another country. Sloppy journalism, I think.

Well it looks like they're going to have trouble introducing the id system too, and Aussies as far as I know, won't sit back and let it be introduced as easily as here. :)

There is no report or data that isn't produced with a bias to it - literally none. As for the percentage loss, it may well be a small one - but can we afford to lose any?
One thing is for sure as far as I am concerned, we are all about to get thoroughly clobbered with various tax changes, and all of it is down to poor decision making and zero accountability on behalf if politicians of various colours and stripes.

I would say we can definitely afford to lose 0.63% of Britain's millionaires... what are they adding to the economy, and to other people's happiness? OK, there are some good ones who do care what happens to Britain, but plenty are just in it for themselves.
The average CEO in Britain in the 1950s earned around 20 times the wage of his average employee. In 2023, he earned around 120 times his average employee's wage.

@Sheal OH has been on a daily dose of Allpurinol for over 10 years on repeat prescription. The only time he has any gout is if he has too much beer or white wine instead of red. Unfortunately it doesn't work for my osteo-arthritis but I take turmeric with bioprene and avoid industrial processed foods and that helps.

I'm not for one second saying that CEO salaries aren't out of hand - they absolutely are - but, not all millionaires are CEO's. If they are that wealthy, bear in mind that their tax rate will be 40% as a minimum.. and 40% of a big number is still a big number. We are at a point where we are next to potless in this country, so need to bring in every penny that we can, not give that money away to other countries.

However it's taken @Obelix-Vendée it seems to work for gout, but there's obviously many out there that don't know that cherry juice or something cherry based helps the problem.

What is bioprene please as I know it as the tradename for a type of peristaltic tubing.

In some ways that makes it worse, I dont think I'd like to donate to a charity and find it doing this kind of work, its not what it was set up to do.

Dont you believe it, they let themselves get involved in a stupid lock down during covid that only made the problem longer and more painful after everyone else had more or less got over the worse.
                      Just one example.
I get the impression, from relatives that there is more control over the population than you might guess out there.

OK, go live in the bush and do as you like, but not the majority of people live there.

Well, I'm not so sure. As @pete points out, during the pandemic, the gov there found it very easy to whip the population into a state of absolute frenzy over vilifying and ostracising anyone who did not whole-heartened swallow the various gov edicts. Quite frightening to behold, as that is exactly how authoritarian regimes get a grip.

Really this is something I don't really care one way or the other.

Just seen the new checks that come into force if you want to visit Europe, scan passport and have your finger prints taken.
It's all about collection of data on people once they have your fingerprints on record it's the first part of the gradual build up of the who is who.

I definitely wouldn't want an ID card on my phone, give me a card like the driving licence then I can just put it in the same drawer with other important stuff.
