Yeah I saw the 'Blim' inscription on the originals and knew it wasn't a 'soft close' one so that narrowed it down, plus there were photos on Amazon. I'm all fired up now to replace all the doors and drawer fronts. They were originally white but have since become 'yellow' over time.

I feel your pain - mine was a stuck lid on a tin of primer. I knew it had excellent adhesion properties, but wasn't quite wanting it to glue its own lid shut.

Ring pull lids on tins............ they are either so sharp you cut your finger or they manage to pull the lid part way and refuse to go any further.
Things packed in cellophane - used to be able to judge the spot and gently pull apart. Now an axe is often needed.

That's probably Blum, we used to call them all "Blum" but there are other makes these days, all do the same thing but depending on how the door overlays the unit side.
Sprung unsprung and as you say soft close, its a minefield.
Cellophane, its the stuff you cant tear until you cut it, then it just rips all the way and falls apart, and have you tried screwing it up to put it in the bin.:frown:

I had a multi pack of canned tuna and every tin the ring pull just broke off.

Wedge shaped cheese in the same shape container. Why do they put the pull back tab on the plastic cover at the narrow end, so you have to open the whole packet to get to the chunky end? I'm the only one that eats it so like to cut just a small piece off at a time, leaving much of the sealed lid in place.

Heinz tins.... why don't they make them so you can stack them in the cupboard? Oh, and talking of tins, the four packs that you get of things like tinned tomatoes, why do they make the cardboard outers so flaming loose?? I was putting one of those in a high-ish cupboard today and almost got brained with two escapee tins!

Strange report on the news this morning, young newly qualified doctors are going to go on strike because they can't get proper jobs.
Now will we notice, never heard of unemployed people striking before.

And equally, why is the NHS short of doctors and having to steal them from third world countries that could probably do with them staying where they are.

NHS is nothing short of a disaster zone currently. Both myself and Mrs C are going through the system currently for quite different issues, yet the way things are being done by the hospital is very similar. In short, they're getting waiting lists to look as though they are going down by simply bouncing you from one list onto another and back again.
                  NHS dentistry is even worse.

@pete I'd read something a couple of months ago about newly qualified doctors not being able to get placements. Some NHS Trusts apparently are refusing to take them if they attended public or private schools! If that's true the management should all be kicked out and replaced by people who care more about patients than their own political bias.

I think the NHS just hopes patients will give up on the obstacle course involved in getting treatment and go away quietly.

We are about to enter their "busy" season again, so doubtless the media will be glorying in tales of 24 hr waits for ambulances or A&E treatment.

Sort out the transfer from hospital into after-care and you would free up 20% of beds in some areas.

Our province had that issue. Hospital beds in large numbers were occupied by elderly people waiting for long term care homes and the main reason was because they were picky about just which home they would go to and there were long waiting lists for some of the places. They were well enough that nurses were pretty much just doling our their daily meds and no actual nursing was needed beyond that.

So the province made it law that is you didn't accept a bed within 70K/45miles of your preferred place, you would be charged $500 per day for your hospital stay. If you choose to go willingly, you remain on the waiting list for your preferred facility and don't lose you place in line and are transferred by the province when your choice is ready for you.

                            Hospital beds were freed up.

Our problem now is that we haven't got the capacity to handle the millions of newcomers that have been foisted on our province in the last 5 years without any concern for housing, health, etc. And they don't understand to go to walk in clinics for a minor ailment. Instead they seem to all go to emergency and stress those facilities. Seen it with my own eyes, many many times due to my being the "go to" person for going with people who need hospital help and also need me to advocate for them while there.

I've just now realized how useful scammers are. I just had a call from someone supposedly representing Bell telling my internet security needed their input to keep me safe.

I gave them an earful in very unladylike terms.

How did I not realize to be this way every time I get one of these calls instead of just hanging up?

What an easy and free way to get rid of negative vibes!
