Thanks for that @ViewAhead , when it's necessary to make that leap I'll have a go and see what, if anything, happens :roflol:

@Ergates I have an Android phone which is clever enough to let me have phone calls, send messages, do WhatsApp, make notes, set the alarm, emails and googling plus take photos tho it only has a single lens, not 3 like OH and Possum who have smart phones. Have to say I don't use it for email or google as I prefer a proper screen but I can, if needs must.

OH told Possum he was thinking of getting me a smart phone for Xmas but she knows what I think about that and has told him no, under no circumstances. The main problem I have with my Android is forgetting to wind it up and/or take it with me and I do turn it off when I'm out on the grounds that I'm busy.

Yes you can @Bluejayway. My Samsung has two slots for SIM cards, I only use one.

@Ergates, GiffGaff uses O2 ... and has a PAYG option, so that might give you what you need. Have to say I find GiffGaff excellent. I've had my Doro for about 5 yrs. I put £10 on and still have about £6 left. If I am getting close to the max period without use, they email me. Plus after every text I send, they text an update of how much credit I have left.

So what is the definition of a "smart Phone", to me yours sounds like a smart phone if it has internet?

Dunno @pete and don't care as I only use it for quick messages really and for my weekly shop with the fidelity card app. I don't want to be contactable at every moment and I don't do any streaming or surfing on it but t'other pair can if they want and much faster.

Price mainly I expect and maybe memory capacity. OH's has an extra gigabyte. My orange Neva Leaf 3G but could have a 4G sim card if I wanted.

Perhaps the same as a Smart Meter. Collects your information for it's own use ? Either that or it is incredibly well dressed

Just been watching the European Cross Country Championships nice smooth grass and thin sand over other parts of the course, gentle slopes no water no mud on the competitors. That is not a cross country course: when I did cross country we got to go over ploughed fields, through bogs, over fences, up steep hills, muddy paths; everybody ended up covered in mud and that was on a good day, on a bad day it would be sub zero and/or raining as well.

I'm fairly sure your phone will do the same as all the others, you either have an I phone or android as far as I know, they both have similar capabilities, its just like all this stuff, you only use what you want to use unless you buy a brick phone that has no internet.

It is what you make it.

Obviously the more you pay for it you do get other things like a better camera, maybe 5g which is faster, but they all have internet access.

No, there are phones that can access the internet but aren't smart phones. They are generally called Feature Phones. Here's an AI summary:

A feature phone is a mobile phone with more capabilities than a basic phone (calls/texts) but fewer than a smartphone, typically featuring a physical keypad, small screen, and essential functions like SMS, simple games, calendar, and maybe a basic camera, popular for simplicity, durability, and affordability, often used for digital detox or by seniors/those needing reliable basic communication. Brands like Nokia (HMD) offer popular modern examples, blending classic designs with 4G connectivity.

So I can only ask, at what point does it become a smart phone, I thought it revolved around internet access.
