Dont waste money on these so called weed and feed. just use growmore! its high nitrogen and that just what these weed and feeds are. My allotment association sells growmore by the pound or a stone for £4.

I uses this annually and my lawn is looking very good.

    But, it dont kill weeds.

I was also a bit of a lawn feed sceptic until a few years ago.

Then one year I bought some autumn feed due to the lawn taking a bashing during me doing some work on the drive way.
I'm impressed, you actually see the results the following spring, but it really works.
Not had chance to apply any weed and feed this spring, no rain.:loll:

Yes it will Nitrogen will make the greenery lush and the flowers will not have time to flower so the big rush will deprive the weeds of flowering and seeding and will die off much better than any weed and feed.

Sorry Lad, but what a load of tosh!

Weed & Feed contains a selective herbicide to kill weeds. If you don't have any / many weeds in your lawn its an expensive way of treating your lawn as the Weed part mostly falls on ground that has no weeds, but if your lawn has a fair amount of weed, or you can't be bothered to spot-treat the weeds, then its a reasonable method.

I think that feeding with a high-Nitrogen fertilizer and then use a selective weed-killer spray (so you can just treat areas where you do have weeds) is the most cost effective method

Growmore is a balanced fertilizer, with equal proportions of Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium i.e. tt is NOT a high Nitrogen fertilizer.

What the grass needs, in Spring, IS a high Nitrogen fertilizer, but if you use a balanced fertilizer like Growmore you will be wasting your money on the Phosphate and Potash components (although the grass does need SOME of those, but Nitrogen is the key element required).

"that just what these weed and feeds are"

No, "Weed an Feed" has both the Feed and also a selective weed-killer that certainly is not present in a fertilizer-only product like Growmore.

"My allotment association sells growmore by the pound or a stone for £4."

I buy High-Nitrogen (16-0-0) fertilizer for 10p / Kilogram - dunno what the conversion to a stone is though.

Are you here as a troll?

A stone is 14 pound so that is about 6.4kg for £4 or 62.5p per kilo Lad is paying against your 10p per kilo.
