Poor old Brock keeps getting it in the neck from the Farmers and Politicians. I don't subscribe to the theory [and that is all it is as there is still no scientific proof] of the Badger being the spreader of TB in cattle. True, some Badgers have been found to have TB in their blood but for years we have been importing Cattle, Pigs and Sheep, moving them around without any precautions or records until the Foot and Mouth epidemic got our attention. But we have no way of knowing how the TB Bacteria was introduced into farming stock or if our careless, and sometime illegal, way of importing, breeding, and transporting stock around was responsible. Cattle that have TB can be just as infectious at spreading the disease as any other animal.:dunno::coffee:

Will the meat from an infected bovine harm us?

Thank you for putting those links up for me to read Jiffy. The incidence of us being infected are so rare - especially if we don't work in the bovine industry, that I think all this is costing more than we can afford to pay.
The Food Police and Nanny make me cross!!

Made me laugh, back during the Mad Cow scare there was a temporary ban on Keratin, a hoof & horn product that we used to use as a plaster retardant.

Our stores manager had a stash of it that he let us have, but our Stonemason wasn't too keen on using it, not wanting to catch mad cow disease.

I asked him what he'd just had for lunch, he replied "Beef Pasty."

If you seen some of the stuff that was going in to animal feed you wouldn't be surprised that they got it

                Thankfully those day are gone

This is what I meant http://www.thewestonmercury.co.uk/news/badgers_dumped_in_river_as_cull_extended_1_2903166

This doesn't seem to have been widely reported http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-25770971 (or not when I heard of it this morning)

                    And then there's this http://m.farmersguardian.com/61501.article?mobilesite=enabled

P.S. My FIL is an ex-dairy farmer who supports the badgers

P.P.S. Here's an interesting study, but it's a shame that not one single culled badger was tested for TB nor shotgun pellets http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/bewick-swans011.html#cr That sort of thing gets tested for, but not in culled badgers where the 'shooters' got to select the small percentage that were examined to check if they were killed humanely.
