Lily Scaling

    Indeed. Pleased to say that I won't be planting any of them anywhere near where I have any flower beds :) It will just be lawn and light woodland where they are, so hopefully their leaves can stay where they fall. That's the plan anyway ... what could possibly go wrong?!!

      Tipped out the bags of lily scales in order to pot them up yesterday. Should have done it a while back as the roots were a bit matted ...

      I bought 5 lilies of each variety, and from each I took a couple of scales (could perhaps have taken more ...). I've potted up between 7 and 15 pots for each variety, so lets say average of 2 pots per bulb. Each scale that I have potted up has an average of about 3 bulbils on it, so if they all get under way my 5 bulbs will yield me 30 additional bulbs in a year or two's time ... that will make it worth having purchased top quality bulbs I reckon :)
