    we live in a bungalow which backs on to houses. Therefore the previous owener grew leylandi at the bottom of the garden. They have been there several years but this year they have gone brown and started to die. We had them in our last house for 15yrs and never had this problem. I know they will not grow back but my dilema is what to do with them . If they are cut down we will be overlooked. Will they just stay brown making a screen or will they eventually go totally bare and rot

    Maybe your neighbours fed them a little "something extra"!!
    Remove all of the branches,fix wire supports and plant climbers.
    I did just that and have a beautiful, mixed variety,flowering hedge for most of the year.
    During the winter the evergreen Honeysuckles provide the cover.
