Pete that's where I hand over to those in your trade:ntwrth:Joiners ,(not the site Chippies that's for sure):D...to skillfully dress them and give me a deeper rebate to get a decent face glaze on 'em.
We're about to do some that are 3' square....I have asked the question..'Do we have weights big enough yet small enough to fit the boxes?'...Haven't had an answer yet!:lollol:

Oh Pal & Pete, I don't know how thick they are but I do know they are 10 years old cos we had them fitted. The warranty has just run out!!! Should I be worried then?

Pal, don't moan about Mrs P with the door curtains - I'm still after one but with what's called a 'portierre(sp)' rod. Don't know how they fit in with the UPVC doors though.

I tell you all, if you saw how my front door is fitted you would all have a fit - either laughing or crying! It was done 'privately'. If I ever saw him again......

Anyway, hope you are all keeping warm for this time and Pal, can understand why you were worried about condensation. Keep well all.

    cheers

I'm not sure but as Pal says, probably if they are ten years old they may be thinner units with a smaller space, but thats not to say they have had it,
They are probably still good, just not up to modern spec which seems to keep changing all the time.

As to the weights Pal, we only use lead ones now, no way can the old iron ones on D/G box sashes be used, they would need to be too long.

I've even had to "rip" down 40mm lead weights on a bandsaw in order to get them to fit in traditional sized boxes.

If we can, we increase all section sizes to make it easier to fit the D/G units, but some times they want the replacement to look and fit as the old one did. Thats when the problems start.

Sandra, It is probably due to excess humidity in the house, a deehumidifyer should sort this.

When sealed units go they usualy mist on the inside, light condensation on the inside will be due to them either being slightly inneficent or as I mentioned just excess humidity.
