    Excerpt...

Magnolia 'Susan' is a deciduous shrub, resulting from a cross between M. liliiflora 'Nigra' and M. stellata 'Rosea'. Love this plant great green leaves and fantastic blooms, again good foliage colour to contrast with the more common greens.

Ok I am now the proud owner of a Magnolia soulangeana.

It's a couple of feet tall at the moment & was planted in the garden this weekend.

I want this to grow into a tree, min 10ft now how do I coax it into doing this? Do I prune side shoots? do I feed & what with?

    thanks
