Just goes to show what appears to be a peaceful beach is alive with battles for survival and in some cases, death.
    Many thanks for sharing KG

Oh you lucky, lucky gal - what a super place to visit. You've got a great eye for a good pic:thumb:
You could do a lot with those pics of the natural textures and patterns in the sand, I could spend ages playing with them in PS or PSP.:yho:

Looks like one of the Round Rays but in the wrong area there's also a Blue Spotted Ray but that's more tropical, best I can do Bob.

Dave, please help yourself to my pics to play with :D

Here are a few more pics of that ray, don't know if it will help in ID-ing it.

Bob and Walnut - going by what you both have said, I google around and came up with this -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcinidae

It appears to be one of the Numbfish. What do you think?

The tail seemed to be the wrong shape for a ray, this one looks more like belonging to a fish. However, have not yet found one with just the 5 blue spots.

I don't think so, walnut. I googled this name and all the pics show a whip-like tail. The big spots seem right, but didn't see any of the small spots on the disk margin, as in the link.

Oooh! now it looks like a scene after some awful disaster, Dave! Or from some alien and unfriendly planet. Now you just must write a book to put it in.

Glad you had some fun playing with the pic, but if the beach had looked like that, then I'd never have gone walking on it.

But all in all, well done, I wouldn't have ever imagined that it could be changed so much.

Did you do any more? If so, I'd like to see them too. And don't be put off by what I said.
