I use an independent guy that I know through work - I've known him 20 years and more, and he is a really good mechanic/engineer (he used to look after Her Majesty's cars, so if he is good enough for her, he is good enough for me!). Mine was originally due on 27th June, but the extension has pushed that back to 27th December. I will get it done before then though, just for my own peace of mind, but I can't do anything until after 1st August as that is when my shielding is paused.

In fairness, the car was serviced at a dealer about 400 miles before I bought it and I have done less than 1000 miles since buying it, is three years old and has 20,000 miles on the clock - - I am not expecting any issues with it.

We decided to become a one car family as MrsH was not using the Mini convertible ( 700 miles last year !)Her daughter bought it from us at a super bargain price we gave her :)
Decided to get a smaller car for us both, so we splashed out and bought a Mazda CX3 automatic on line. They deliver it this Thursday and take the Mitsubishi all very easy. Not driven an automatic for 30 years - hope I don't stamp on the clutch! So this is a very easy way to get around the MOT - not exactly cheap though
To change owners and tax on a car is very easy it can all be completed on line, takes about 5 minutes:blue thumb:

Ooooh, those MX3's are rather nice @HarryS! What colour did you go for? I saw a red one on display in Costco just before Christmas, and it was a really lovely shade. Best of health and luck with it when it arrives.

That's the fellow - gorgeous colour, it almost glowed sitting there.

If you have a pressure washer, I can highly recommend Auto Glym Polar Blast (needs a snow foam lance, but worthwhile buying one) and Polar Seal - the snow foam sticks to the grime on the car until you can wash it off with bucket and sponge and then the Polar Seal is a spray on, dry off extremely hydrophobic coating that really shines. Dead easy to use, makes it look as though you've waxed your car when all you've done is washed it!

              Relating to the extended MOT.

I have to admit. I am not upto speed with ANPR. The police camera/computerised system. No doubt the 'Chancers' may venture out on the roads. I should imagine that the ANPR is probably clocking so many vehicles as having expired MOT's. Now to the really enthusiastic traffic cop. This is an offer he can't ignore. OK under present conditions an extention is in force, but believe me. It's not often, even if a vehicle has just driven out of the test center, a traffic cop will find a fault. So be wise. Get that MOT and at least you won't be flashed up on the ANPR.

@Fat Controller , that looks good.
Must admit I dont wash or wax mine, I get the car wash bunch to do it.
I always find the stuff they spray on the car leaves some kind of deposit that makes it shine.

Only thing I find is it gets on the windscreen and on a dark wet night in winter it smears all over and I have to clean it off.

I can't do 'proper' polishing anymore, so this stuff works really well - spray on with the pressure washer then dry the car off immediately, job done. It even works on wheels and keeps them cleaner longer. BUT, it specifically says not to get it on the windscreen (side and rear windows are OK and it even helps propel the water off which is nice)

Hell no, I only got the snow foam (Polar Blast) on there - that is OK as it is merely soap, it is the after treatment (Polar Shine) that you don't put near it. When you see it on the body of the car, you know why - it is so hydrophobic it is remarkable, however that would cause a hell of a lot of smearing on a windscreen I would think
