Last year I bought a whole load of so-called 'maxi' plugs from a certain catalogue company and they turned out to be anything but big and, more to the point, half of them were dead by the time they'd arrived. I complained and received replacements but these too were hardly in good condition.

Has anyone else had similar/better/worse experience of buying via mail order?

If I'm going to buy plugs rather than grow from seed, I'd rather give my money to support a local grower then I can see the quality before I buy. If your talking about the same company that I have received a glossy from recently, their prices are very tempting. I was going to buy summer bulbs from them for cut flowers but in the end bought them cheaper from B&Q, as I did last year and the quality was fine.

I use Jersey Direct for some plugs very good quality and and good price.

And grow from seed and use my own local nursery for rest.

We have good local nursery's no need to use BQ.
