:) I have just read that the reason we have had three bad summers is because the last three years ,there have been thirteen moons.
This year there are only twelve,so we can expect a long hot summer :) :gnthb:
Do you think this theory will stand up..........I bl**dy hope so lol.

Yes, I read all that too Roders.
I have to say I don't set too much store by it.
I know a lot of people are into growing "in tune with the moon". It seems to be the thing in France.
I've tried it myself, with very good results BUT there was no control condition and the plants might / probably would have done as well planted on another day.
Interesting topic . What do other people think.
I only hope they are right about this being a good summer due to the 12 moons.

Probably more to do with climate change. As we warm the world, we get more extreme weather of all kinds - and Britain is probably in for damp summers and icy winters.

I expect that by the time I'm a doddering old gardener, gardening will have changed hugely - suppose we will just have to adapt.

I'd love a long hot summer this year, so hope you're right!

I check on a weather forum netweather tv fairly regluarly, I took a peak their spring and summer thread it seeems at the moment there are no strong signals either way. We are in a weak el nino situation apparantly and if anything that bodes for a average summer. Long term forecasting is still fairly inaccurate at the best of times and this year its almost worthless, the big computer models have really struggled this winter with day to day forecasts so have no clue what so ever futher afield.
I cant see the 13 moons having a huge ifluence, well maybe an influence but I think too many variebles involved to say exactly how that influence would maifest itself.

We deserve a good summer four years on the run would be too much, although i am reliably informed its happened before and that the whole of the 60s provided poor summers, would love to know if this is true (if someone doesnt mind giving there age away).

We had a brilliant May and June, a wet July and an ok August, followed by a half decent September...at least down South.

It's been like that the past few years that I can remember. Perhaps summer has shifted slightly early to May and June?

    .

As one of my work colleagues says when things go bottoms up---- we'll all go out and bray at the moon!

Though it's a pity there will be one less this year!
