I kid you not it is really tender & tasty.. It is to dark for a photo now but will try to remember tomorrow.. Certainly give it a try.. You might need to support the taller varieties with a cane as I found in the tunnel..

I have grown stuttgart outside many times with good success.. Not massive globes but certainly med-large so again hopeful they will like the tunnel..

Well I had runners last year in the big tunnel & climbing french in the small tunnel.. Both had masses of leaves & not many flowers & of course as you say pollination was difficult.. So have a permeant bed outside & that is where they will stay... Dwarfs seem to crop quite well but hess backbreaking going along looking for beans, so I always have some, but climbers for space saving & a crop it's outside

This is the first year I am not growing sweetcorn this year.. It grows fantastically well with lovely cobs in the tunnel.. I used to love walking in & shaking hands with them all every day to shake the pollen down..
I don't grow cucumbers or melons anymore since I had a terrible problem with powdery mildew one year.
I get on fine with toms Aubergines & an assortments of odds that I get given..

What a beautiful tunnel, Marley! It does you proud. I'm sure that your artichokes will do well at the side. If you have access to straw or another fairly dry, deep mulch then sprinkle a few slug pellets under that, they should be OK over winter.
@Kristen...The third variety is Macau...a Girondin relative of Vert de Laon:)
I think I've still got artichokes, but it's too wet to go and check! Will get back to you in May;)

What a fine expression - I have nicked it!

That's the one, thanks. I swear I have never heard of it, and when you so kindly sent them I Googled it without success. I thought Macau was a Portuguese gambling den of iniquity off the coast of Hong Kong :)

It is! Try Googling Artichaut Macau, though, and all is revealed;) No idea which ones I've still got because I'm a pathetic labeller.....

Hahaha ... brilliant! Get Google to search for them in French ... and then have Google translate the French to English

Why thank you, I am having great fun & pleasure from the tunnel.. I thought they would be ok by the wall with a good thick layer of straw.. Good tip about the slug pellets too. :ThankYou:

 He he you enjoy shaking hands with the corn & I bet you get bumper cobs.. ;)

My Trugs came from Sussex Trugs too. Forgotten what it was now, but I had a question and emailed them and got a very prompt and friendly response, so perhaps try that? (I can't see weights on their website).

I just emailed them requesting the weights for a #6 and #7 I don't wont to buy
anything that is too heavy for her.....but we do have a allotment and didn't want to regret
buying one that is too small or to heavy for Mrs Intel to carry :)

I assume these are mainly made from maybe Willow etc and not heavy Oak..lol

I have a #7 and a Daffodil, and they are about 1kg each (Daffodil slightly less, #7 slightly more). Bit hard to weigh as won't fit on kitchen scales so had to "carry" on bathroom scales, thus not much precision in the process :)

Not exactly light, but not Oak either. They are heavy when full of produce, but I figured large was better to save making two trips. Multiple smaller ones would do if laden weight is a problem? I can take some photos of my, battle scarred, ones if you like

That would be good thanks........I had a message back from Trugmakers and the
size 6 is 900 grams and the size 7 is 1100 grams, so will probably go for the
                larger size 7

Same width, they will "stack" (more tidily than this photo shows, if you need them to)
