"Hi WolfieKate my apologies for missing your Rose post, the lovely 1987/"Mandarin":o:)it won the Glasgow gold medal :)" Thanks wise owl.

How uncanny... I started university in Glasgow in 1987! Where whisky mac was my favourite tipple. :dbgrtmb:

I am working on a love of roses... I have 3 now... I have small rambling ground variety and it's just coming out beautifully - tiny red flowers. I think my failures in the past were due to my own lack of confidence about roses.

Really beautiful rose reblooms september time too, only trouble is its soooo rampant, planted one either side of our patio window they climbed round that and the upstairs window too then started heading for the roof!!!!!, had to have a drastic cut back last autumn, think I may have to move them later in the year, will take a bit of shade so think I have the perfect spot.

Hi Woo, can I make a cheeky request to see the full plant? Id love to see how it fits in with the rest of your garden.

My Pauls Scarlet is in bloom too, but its being rather swamped by a vigorous jasmine. But I do love seeing the pops of scarlet through the solid green jasmine foliage.

Its my shortest flowering rose in the garden.

Well, my little rose doesn't really deserve a place here (especially with my pathetic photos) ... but it is unique I think. I've had it for 4-5 years and never goes over 30cm tall. I got it from a Dutch nursery when I asked for an orange climbing rose. I was shocked that it never grew but can have as many as 60 roses per cluster (it's a bit shy this year) .. none being more than 2.5cms across and the buds so diddy ... here is ...

                Rosa mini-micro 'Bambino' ...

they are all beautiful. I love roses but I hate them in my garden due to the thorns and small children! I actually tried to kill one off last year because it was right at the front of a flowerbed next to the lawn and was just asking for an incident but it has come back to life and has so many buds on it I think it actually really appreciated being cut down. am looking forward to it coming out now although I will have problems keeping the kids away from it so best get the tweezers ready too

I have to say i think WolfieKate's patio rose mandarin is probably my favourite because it is so unusual
