The roses arrived today and are currently having a soak in a bucket of water. A little on the small side but looking healthy and will soon make up. :)

I used to grow and propagate fuchsias and roses. Fuchsias are so facinating and wowee each year so many new name hit the list.

Roses also provide more and more choices. Browsing the recent lists. I notice that many of the once old favourites are making a come back. Alec's red. Uncle Walter etc etc. For a time rose livers became sadened by the fact that so many new roses had no scent. Thanfully rose growers, nursery men, breeders took note. Not only are our old favourites being revived but, so many new names........smell nice.

When it comes to Fuchsia's Mike my green fingers disappear. I don't seem to have any luck with them at all. Roses are a different kettle of fish and they thrive. :)

Thats a shame Sheal. Fuchsias are so easy. As I have mentioned before. I don't stick to the written word when it comes to gardening. A quicky about Fuchsia propagation. Unlike with most cuttings, you don't have to cut just below a leaf joint. Cut anywhere. If you want lots of cuttings, mthen you can take a typical cutting stem and a leaf either side, now slit the stem down between the two leaves. You now have two cuttings. Cuttings having three terminal leaves are the best for producing standards etc. Another benefit with fuchsias. Provided you are prepared to grow them through the winter, you can take ctting all year round.

I don't have a problem growing them from cuttings @Mike Allen. It's keeping them alive when they have matured. I've tried them in pots and the ground without success. The only exception was 'Hawkshead' which I grew in a large pot.
