That looks to be a very good plant. Now something about gardeners. Some are reluctant to cut back etc and others will dive in and almost destroy a subject. At the end of the day, we bare in mind what the books and the experts say, and finally we make up our own minds.
In this case. I'd set up the trellis. Then place the rose in front. Now to the best of your ability, draw the branches etc toward the center. Now picture in your minds eye, what you hope the finished item will look like. No disrespects but, if this is new to you. Loosly tie some of the branches to the trellis. Firstly, get rid of thin whispery stems. Now start to build up a framework. The now longest and thickest stems, forming the more central aspects. Then follw this by temporarily tying in shorter stems. Keeping in mind a fan shaped design. If you like what you see. Now go in fairly close to the center of the growth and cut back to to three or four buds of that main stem.

    Hope this helps.

These ones are fairly new - they were planted out November 2018 - and apparently it's normal for them to be a bit droopy the first couple of years.

      Pretty Polly

A patio rose. She needs a bigger pot, so I'll be doing that later in the year.

      Designer Sunset

Another patio rose. I won this one - the local garden centre ran a rose photography competition.

No idea what this one is - we bought her at Homebase about 8 years ago, planted her here, and took no notice of what variety she was. Oops! She used to climb up the side of the shed, which we've now demolished, so we'll be moving her this winter.

A family friend donated Rosa. Breathe of Life. Clg. In memory of Valerie. That was 9.6 2010 A few weeks ago, it produced it's first and only bloom.

Anyway, no good crying over spilled milk,eh?

In a couple of days time, we will be heading autmn, xmas etc. Have YOU been inspired by any rose, to order it and provide a loving home for it?
