        Nothing to be sorry about @lizzie27 as I hadn't mentioned it. She'd had a form of late age blood cancer and decided to stop the chemo treatment as it compromised her immune system and she was in and out of hospital with endless pneumonia.

        She liked her roses standing up like soldiers in ranks with bare soil below and some primulas round the egde of the bed. Not my style.

        @CatDouch
        I think your rose is lacking in potassium, I suspect the potting soil has lost nutrient value.
        Watering with tomato fertilizer - I use Tomorite - can improve things like this. 20ml in a 5 ltr watering can once a fortnight.

        'Emma Bridgewater' arrived today.. I did not intend to get this, but my husband had other ideas, so here we are..
        Very thorny rose, lots of big, hooked thorns. Upright in habit, I suspect capable of growing much larger than stated.

            Thanks @Mrs Hillard for the helpful suggestion. I’ve been feeding my potted roses with Tomorite weekly for the last 3 weeks, including this one so I can’t understand why this one is behaving differently to my other roses? Funnily enough, it’s always the last one I get to when I’m using my watering can to feed them so perhaps it’s not been getting enough, I’ll start with that one with week!

              Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but l was wondering if anyone has experience of the rose "Dame Judi Dench" ?
              I have an area that gets sunshine from around June to the end of August and its shown on the Austin website as tolerating part shade. I remember seeing it in a garden centre a couple of years ago and loved the colour, but l'm not sure if it gets a bit floppy when it comes to the weight of flowers ?
              Any advice greatly appreciated :).

                Can I just ask if this is a normal dog rose? Its in a terrible position, stuck under a tree next to a shed, so gets very little light or moisture. I noticed the flower looks quite large and has good colour but was wondering if the sun would wash it out if we're to move it. Thanks

                    The flower is quite large for a dog rose, I think it might be 'Complicata'.. which is a dog rose hybrid.. the foliage too is a little different to the usual dog roses.

                      Yes I used to grow 'Dame Judi Dench', and can confirm it will grow very well in a shady or north facing position. I've lost my photos of it and I no longer have this rose. The scent is quite strong if you are partial to a tarry/tea fragrance.

                      Quite thorny, some big hooked thorns on the canes.

                      Lovely roses @Busy-Lizzie I've always liked Graham Thomas, such a rich colour.
