I considered bed bugs whilst shuddering!
However-I bought a new bed complete with mattress and head and toe board only three months ago, but I did strip the whole thing down and looked in all the likely places several times because of my dread of the thought of bed bugs, but nothing like that, also bed bugs leave spots of dried blood and brown poop on the bedding, but there was/is none of that either, it is a mystery, otherwise I would have a better idea of how to deal with it.
My best thoughts are that midges can get through mosquito netting, it is the only thing that makes any sense to me.

Part of the mystery for me is why all of a sudden am I plagued with biting insects for the first time in 70 plus years, my new home did not have this problem when I moved in two years ago, so why now, perhaps I have done something recently that caused it somehow.
