    Hi All

Does anyone grow any miniature Hosta's. (mini up to 6 inches high)

Best ones to grow ? , I was looking at Frosted Mouse Ears and Dragon tails these are new ones to me .

I did have "Tea & Crumpets" until the vine weevil had the same thoughts !!

From what I can gather from reading up,"dwarf" is to be phased out with garden plants names and "miniature" to be used instead off, to be honest I never gave it much thought, has Political Correctness gone over the top again ?.

    Hi Spruce,

Yes you're right, PC has gone completely insane.

I have two DWARF Hostas in my front garden. They're the Little Blue Mouse Ears DWARF varieties. I also bought two DWARF Cat's Eyes for my sister in law this year. They're all rather nice and DWARFY and would even fit in nicely in an DWARFY Alpine garden.
    :ThankYou:

There's loads online but this would be a good place to start.

It's easy to get hooked though. I have a shopping list for next year already.

So, have the plants been complaining then? Was someone talking to their plants and they answered back, "I'm *not* a dwarf, I'm a "miniature":nonofinger: "

Actually, I thought the two terms meant different things? Something to do with their growth rate or something?

So, if they alter the term "dwarf" for "miniature" it's actually going to cause more confusion :noidea:

I haven't got Hostas Spruce, to many slugs and snails. I thought dwarf meant a plant up to 12 to 14 inches high and miniature around 6 inches. For example I wouldn't call my dwarf irises miniature they are too tall. It's a crazy world!:)

"Mini Hosta" vs. "Dwarf Hosta" - What's the difference?

In 2011, the American Hosta Society standarized the qualifications for mini hostas, effectively eliminating the term "dwarf hosta" as correct terminology. The AHS recognizes mini hostas by leaf size (the leaf must be smaller than 6 square inches). This means that while minis are standardized, hostas commonly regarded as minis by clump size become disqualified.

            So it was the Americans
