I have to say, I'm not totally convinced that this was a mistake.

More a successful attempt to generate publicity for an awards ceremony where there is waning interest.

I've never seen so many people who have endured plastic surgery gathered in the same spot - since the last Oscars.

I can't think of a good film that's ever generated an Oscar. It seems to be an award for mainstream drivel. While one or two mainstream films are OK, the vast majority are a travesty and an affront to the eyes, and gratuitous theft of vital life minutes.

Actual good films tend to be lower budget, but make up for it with actual story. They generally don't win anything, except perhaps the approval of their audience.

I've been thinking something strange actually went on, although I'm not sure what.

I'm thinking about the fact that they were criticised for having no Black nominations a year ago, or was it two, cant remember.

Am I right in thinking the eventual winner, once things had been sorted, turned out to be a film with a total black cast?.

As I say not sure what went on but I'm not sure it was accidental.

It was not a mistake. You did hear about the witches putting a spell on Trump. Well they used the wrong spell, and it landed on the Oscars. that is what happened. everyone knows that.

If you're just referring to 'Best Picture' (originally called 'Outstanding Picture') there were quite a few good ones. The 1935 version of Mutiny on the Bounty with Charles Laughton and Clarke Gable, How Green Was My Valley in 1941 (the story of the collapse pf the Welsh mining industry in the 1800's. Stalwartly performed by those Welsh actors Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O'Hara and Roddy McDowall ).

Also there were a wide variety of types of films such as Casablanca, Going My Way, Hamlet, Frome Here To Eternity, On The Waterfront, The Bridge On The River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, My Fair Lady, A Man For All Seasons, The Sting, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Chariots of Fire, Out Of Africa, Rain Man, Schindler's List, A Beautiful Mind and many others.

They were of many different Genres and good, each in their own way - although I didn't like some of them.
