I got this from a USA message board to which I belong.

There are some interesting clips on here, though obviously many are for TV programmes we wouldn't have seen.

I'm not sure about the clips and TV programmes Doghouse but I'll say this -
I have no great interest in pop stars and the cult of the celebrity but
ELVIS PRESLEY - probably one of the most attractive men who ever lived and one of the most interesting / pleasing voices.
Yes, I can see all the rubbish and hype - but it doesn't alter the facts.
    Thanks for the link Doghouse.

    No probs,

In my teens, Elvis Presley was a bit "unfashionable" I didn't mind him, but I never bought any of his records.

But this was in one of the jukeboxes I bought and I've left it in as I've always liked the tune.

    Digressing..

My brother-in-law's brother has a photo of himself in his army uniform when he was doing his National Service in Germany in the late fifties, he's arm in arm with another soldier in uniform posing for the photo... Elvis Presley.

I've got "Blueberry Hill/Walking to New Orleans" in one of my jukeboxes.
Fats Domino was missing feared dead in the New Orleans floods, but he was OK he and his family had been rescued by a Cost Guard helicopter.

On the subject of kids, one rainy 5th of November, my wife decided that the three kids would watch our firework "display" on the patio, from standing inside the lounge and looking through the French windows. I was the only one outside.
I'd only let about half a dozen off in quick succession when I turned round to see if they were enjoying themselves, but they'd disappeared to watch the TV.

I long ago gave up "Dad Dancing"

But the teenagers in our family are surprised and impressed when people of our age are quite able to jive, given enough encouragement and alcohol.

Digressing, the French "invented" "Ceroc" which is just a blatent copy of the jive practiced in this country in the fifties, itself copied from the USA.

In my youth there were two types of jive, that practiced by the "trad faces" and the more sophisticated version by we "modernists."

Many Years Ago ,When I Was Younger :(. My wife and i and my sister in law and her husband went for a night out to a night club. We had quite a few sherbits before the dancing started.we had a few dances then they announced ,The Argentine Tango. i asked my sister in law up for the dance as we had a few dance lessons on the Tango. with having a few sherbits we had lost all our inhibitions and we took to the floor. we started our dance and we pulled out all the stops. the other people on the floor stopped dancing and watched and applauded, i felt like the old film actor/dancer Rudolph Valentino:) did not feel that good the next morning :( Hungover:(.

In my youth when I was sixteen I attended Frank & Peggy Spencer's dance school for about a year with a friend. It was a way to meet girls.
I managed to master the waltz and the quickstep. Still can, if push comes to shove.

Then when I became seventeen I bought a car and I had to "fight them off."
    So I stopped going.
It amused me that my dad was "one behind" with their names, always addressing the current girlfriend by the name of the previous one, but he was very polite.
    Happy days!
