I have a couple of nanas, a musa basjoo and a sikkimensis, that I bought as plants but a friend has just given me some velutina seeds. However I've never grown musa from seed. What's recommended? Is it the same as palms. Soaking, scarifying and vermiculiting at about 25o celsius or is there a better way for germinating?

As my last years musa seeds came to nothing I'm probably not much help. :D

But I have had reasonable sucsess before by just soaking in hot water for a couple of days and them potting up singly in compost at about 30C.
I have heard that you should vary the temp as if to replicate day and night, but my attitude is, that if the seed is viable it will grow, if it aint, it wont. [IMG]

How did you get on with the velutina seeds? They are apparantly one of the easier nana seeds to germinate, although I havent tried - yet.
